How Ja Morant Can Legitimately Ruin Iguodala’s Career

No this is not clickbait. There is a very real possibility that if Andre Iguodala does not get it together, he could be done this season and perhaps on the doorsteps of retirement. Here’s how.

Now, Twitter has been having an absolute blast with Ja’s recent likes/posts. Let’s review:

First, reports emerge that Iguodala refuses to play basketball for the Grizzlies if he is not traded. Memphis, honorably, obliges his request.

Then, chaos begins. Ja Morant is initially subtle about his thoughts, but soon people quickly realize this guy is gonna go full nuke.

Personally, I love it. Ja has quickly become the darling of the NBA, and Iguodala is an absolute diva to pull a move like this. You won’t play basketball, the sport you worked your whole life to play, because you’re team isn’t the Monstars from Space Jam anymore? Get outta here.

But what’s the cherry on top? Well, Memphis has reportedly been cooperative, but these messages from Ja might change that soon. The Grizzlies are building around this guy, and they need to be 100% behind him. Rather than trading Iguodala to his preferred destinations, they could do something much more ruthless.

Normally, I’m for the players in these situations. But let’s just say some things are best served cold and after the playoff eligibility deadline.

It would be a real, real, real shame if Iguodala, a player who has contributed absolutely nothing to his current team, was cut in March and sent home to watch the NBA playoffs from his couch. Heaven forbid.

Offensive Massacre Unleashed in Oklahoma City Against the Atlanta Hawks

Photo by Zach Beeker | OKC Thunder

Oklahoma City did everything on the offensive end. Three players ended with 20+ points (Schroder, Gallinari, and SGA), and eight players scored double digits. But everyone can look up the stats, so rather than regurgitating those I figured I would do something a little more fun.

Below are a list of my random thoughts accumulated throughout the game. It’s not comprehensive this time, but I believe they detail an accurate recap of this game. Enjoy.

  • Petition to give this team the “Lob City 2.0” — Does Mayor Holt approve these things? The Governor? Whoever does that please make it happen
  • At what point do we start referring to “the bench” as “alternate starting lineup”? They are that good.
  • Chris Paul leads the league in 1st quarter buzzer beaters. I don’t have the data to back this up it’s just something I feel in my heart.
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is making his layups increasingly difficult and I believe it is on purpose. Someone investigate this.
  • Noel just dunks a lot now. That’s what is going to happen. Don’t try to fight it.
  • Remember the Spider-Man with Toby Maguire when he sees everything in slow motion once he got his powers? That’s SGA when he drives. It’s the only explanation.
  • Vince Carter played and scored a basket. That’s cool. It’s probably gonna be the last time we see him in OKC. That’s not cool
  • OKC scored 104 points before the 4th quarter started. That’s cool. They ended with 140 points. That’s very cool.

OKC leaves tonight with a whooping 58% FG and 56% 3PT performance before heading to Minnesota. Until next time, THUNDER UP!!!

ClickTown – September 24th, 2019

clicktownRead the latest Thunder happenings here on ClickTown.

Berry Tramel (NewsOK) talks to Billy Donovan about the earthquake that precipitated the big earthquake that shook the Thunder: “Sitting there, next thing I know, the doors start swinging open and closed,” Donovan said. “I’m like, ‘OK, now it feels like the whole building is getting ready to tip over.’ I’ve been in a few subtle earthquakes here. Not like that. So I go to the window, because I actually felt like the building was swaying. You look out the window, it’s not moving. So I kind of went downstairs.”

Dan Devine (The Ringer) on whether the Miami Heat should trade for Chris Paul: “It’s worth wondering, though, how well Paul would fit with the other famed hard-ass the Heat just imported. Jimmy Butler could have secured a full five-year bag to run it back as one of several stars on the 76ers; instead, he took a four-year, $140.8 million contract to be the unquestioned no. 1 option for a Heat franchise that hasn’t won 50 games in a season or made it out of the second round since LeBron James left town. Now, if they brought in Paul, Miami would be adding another max-salaried marquee player whose bids for glory in both Los Angeles and Houston came up short after grumblings emerged about the “mentoring” he offered to his costars. Is Butler—no stranger to, um, complicated exits himself—going to be on board with sharing the spotlight he thought he would have all to himself? (Also, for what it’s worth: As I’ve written, I’m optimistic that a healthy version of what’s already in the Heat locker room might be good enough to be the third or fourth seed in the East. Would a 34-year-old CP3 make them a legit contender on par with the Bucks and 76ers at the top of the conference? I’m skeptical.)” Continue reading
